Book List

Stitch Bitch posted this on her blog. I just had to jump on the bandwagon. It’s about books, afterall. I did better than I thought I would, but if you take out Rowling and Tolkien, I’m not doing so well. What an odd list. I wonder who came up with it. Sadly, there aren't any books on the list that I really want to read that I haven't already read. I'm more likely to rent the movie versions.

I added the * star condition, because I think it’s important to know what was required reading. I limited to pre-college schooling, because in college you do have some choice as to what classes you take, which is how I ended up reading Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon by Jorge Amado three different times.

~~~~~
Look at the list of (100) books below. Bold the ones you’ve read. Italicize the ones you want to read. * Star the ones you were forced to read in your schooling before college. Leave blank the ones that you aren’t interested in. (Movies don’t count.)
You haven't read either of the two Austen novels and you're hassling me about Harper Lee? Dude, you know I grew up in NH right? Southern literature?
I've read about 40 of them according to my quick count. I love to read and several more of those are on my list.
If you've never read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you're missing a real treat. I'd also recommend The Time Traveller's Wife and Life of Pi
Real interesting book list. I think I've read a lot of them because I'm so OLD ... LOL. I've been a reader since Grade School. I didn't mark the ones I read in 'school'.
Anna - I grew up in NYS, where we read a ton of Southerners but few Brits. I still recommend Mockingbird to you.
Geggie - I too love to read, just not what's on that list.
Kim - I tried Hitchhikers in college and couldn't get into it. I usually like "campy" sci fi, so I'm not sure why. The other two you mentioned I've looked at, but haven't picked up. I seem to think that someone said in Wife that they mess with the historical record, which would drive me away.
Lelia - Thanks for coming by. I enjoyed your list too.
